I was born Jeff K. Hughes in the river bottoms of Western Kentucky in the year 1959 to proud parents Carlos and Marie Hughes. Being the only son I was privileged to experience first hand the meaning of customer service from the front seat of my father's Chevrolet Caprice Classic. We would spend countless hours traveling Land between the Lakes and neighboring counties visiting the coalmines and rock quarries whose insurance he carried handling claims and providing emotional support in hard times. It was during those days I learned the true meaning of service. People and NOT the almighty dollar are what matter; no matter how much you make or how hard you try to reach a goal financially it means nothing if you lose respect of others and your own integrity. I have tried to carry that lesson with me throughout my career and now in building my own business.

After high school I attended the University of North Carolina in Charlotte and later returned home to the family insurance business. While the years working for my father were educational and rewarding I couldn’t shake the overwhelming desire to make my own path in the world and so in 1983 joined the team at John Hancock Financial Services. In my 3rd year with the company I was in the top 10 representatives in the US handling insurance, securities, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and the savings and investment programs for employees of large companies. It was there I found a voice that was all my own.

But the long hours on the road became increasingly harder to bear and so when Fairfield Communities came calling in 1986, I ventured to Georgia to head up their financial department. That union led me to Crossville, Tennessee where I found my nitch in real estate. The 15 years spent with Fairfield Communities promoted me to Director of Sales over Fairfield Glade where I plated, priced and developed property while overseeing the sales and construction of numerous homes per year. It was also there I met my lovely wife Tracey and we began a life together, which has produced two beautiful children and a family of friends in the Glade unparalleled by any other.

In 2002, we opened Hughes Real Estate Services, a family oriented business dedicated to providing a fresh and unique approach in servicing the real estate needs of our clients while maintaining the integrity and ethical standards we hold dear. This has been the most challenging and rewarding experience of my career.
